Where Will Jalen Hurts End Up?
Where Will Jalen Hurts End Up?
Jalen Hurts’ father, Averion, told Bleacher Report last spring that if his son didn't win back the starting job, he could become "the biggest free agent in college football history."
Where will he go? Can he fit into another offensive scheme? Will he have enough time to prepare?
All eyes will be on Hurts this offseason as he visits potential suitors. Today I’m going to talk about the early front-runners trying to land the biggest fish in the transfer market.
Oklahoma
in
With success in transfers Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray, OK would be a great fit for Hurts. Using an aggressive offense, Lincoln Riley knows how to get the most out of his quarterbacks. If Murray goes Pro in the NFL or MLB, Hurts could see himself at the helm of a potentially great OK team.
Miami
N'kosi Perry and Malik Rosier have both been unimpressive, so Jalen should be able to step right into the starting job offered up by Manny Diaz. With a dominant defense behind him, Hurts could be what the hurricanes have been waiting for to take them to the next level.
Maryland
The newly hired head coach Mike Locksley was the offensive coordinator for Alabama this season. Hurts already have a relationship built here and could feel comfortable knowing his new head coach fairly well.
Auburn
Now that Jarrett Stidham will be heading to the NFL, Auburn has an opening at the QB position. Hurts would have to face some competition though. Malik Willis, Joey Gatewood, and Bo Nix are all fighting for Stidham’s newly vacated spot.
Tennessee
Tennessee took a similar route as Maryland by hiring Alabama’s defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt. Jalen also knows Brandon Kennedy, an offensive lineman who transferred from Alabama earlier in 2018
I'm sure we will see more possible landing spots for Hurts as the offseason moves forward, but regardless of where he ends up, he should make an instant impact week one.
