Did the Patriots win because they called heads or did the chiefs lose because it wasn’t tails?
Did the Patriots win because they called heads or did the chiefs lose because it wasn’t tails?
Everyone in the Patriots locker room probably appreciates Defensive Player Dee Ford and his late-game mistake. The game was almost over when the Chiefs picked off Brady for the 3rd time. However, that was overturned with an offside committed by the defense (Dee Ford). With the interception overturned by the offside, the Patriots worked their way down the field to score a late game TD. But that didn’t end the game for Mahomes. The Patriots defense took their foot off the gas and let the Chiefs walk down the field for a field goal to tie up the game for an overtime conclusion.
The most crucial part of the game was the overtime coin toss. That was the deciding factor of the game honestly. It seemed like next man with the ball would take it all, and that’s exactly what happened. The Patriots choose heads and secured the final and only possession of the game in overtime. Surely, Mahomes was on the sideline hoping to have a chance to bring the Chiefs down the field as well. Moving into the offseason the NFL might review the overtime rules and make them a little more competitive. While both teams gave it their all for 60+ minutes, the super bowl contender for the AFC was decided by a coin toss.
New England’s defense showed up early holding the Chiefs to 0 points and less than 100 yards in the first half. Overall, the defense came up with 4 sacks, 4 TFL, and 1 FF. Brady on the day completed 30 out of 46 of his passes for 348 years 1 TD and 2 INT. He also completed passes to 8 different receivers including some big 3rd down conversions to Julian Edelman. Now the Patriots are 5-1 against top 5 offenses, and they are going to want to keep this same energy in 2 weeks vs the Rams.
