The Eagles Should NOT Draft a Defensive Back Early In The Draft
Now believe it or not Philadelphia is in a great situation in the secondary. They now have a very young core with no corner over the age of 25, and a group that has shown a lot of ability through improvement over the season.
Just to show you how young they are Rasul Douglas (23 years old), Cre’von Leblanc (24 years old), Sidney Jones (22 years old), Avonte Maddox (22 years old), Jalen Mills (25 years old), Chandon Sullivan (22 years old), and that is before the possibility Ronald Darby gets a cheap prove it deal at 25 years old.
While they struggled at times it was also evident a lot of these guys were thrown into the fire with little time working together. As well as some guys being forced to try and play through injuries. The only way the Eagles should go Corner early in the draft is if somebody they believe is a no doubt hit such as Greedy falls to them.
In all reality, if the Eagles want, they could completely ignore the position this offseason. Obviously, they will bring in guys to compete for roster spots and push current guys, but this is almost a dream situation for the Eagles.
The group they have continuously got better throughout the season and a big part of the problem was early defensive line play as shown in the regular season game versus the Saints where it seemed like Brees had an hour to hold on to the ball. As the secondary spent more time together and the Defensive Line gave Quarterbacks less time everything seemed to come together.
