Why the Giants still should not draft a QB

Ladies and gentlemen, this is the face of the Giants Franchise QB for the past fifteen years. And if they agree with me, it still will be for one more year.

Now trust me, by no means am I saying the Giants can win with where they are right now. They will need a new quarterback before this team is even really a playoff contender, BUT they need to solve the Offensive Line first. That does not even bring up the defense or lack of depth at wide receiver.

In this draft, the Giants should target Jonah Williams, the Offensive Lineman from Alabama. While New York invested some money and draft stock this last year to try to boost the offensive line it still is not where it needs to be.

From there, look for the Giants to add quality depth to a top heavy wide receiver corps, while adding any young defensive talent they can. This might be the perfect draft to see the Giants try to use some of their eight draft picks they have outside of the first two rounds. This may allow them to move up into the draft even further due to the lack of talent after the first tiers of players.

While there is still uncertainty to who will be declaring for the draft at the wide receiver position, with players such as Lil’Jordan Humphrey out of the University of Texas still undecided, there is the possibility that Marquise “Hollywood” Brown could be available when the Giants pick at 38. That could he a huge help to OBJ, Sterling Shepard and Evan Engram, giving another receiver to go along with these talented three players. Brown has the ability to take the top off  the defense, and get to the house on every play with his elite speed.

From this point on, the Giants can use the remainder of their picks to look for depth along with talent to replace what they have given away on the defensive side of the ball. While at this point in the draft, there will not be any sure-fire defensive players left on the board, they could still hit on some players. Even though hitting on two draft picks on the defensive side of the ball is not a huge number, it could go a long way.

Now the question of course is: When do the Giants draft a QB? The answer is the 2020 draft. This is a draft that could hold so much talent, especially out of players leaving college after their junior years. Depending on development, this could include Tua, Jake Fromm or the senior class with a guy such as Justin Herbert.
