NFC Results and Predictions
Wild-Card weekend in the NFL is always fun. Although we never know it at the time, this is the round where incredible runs to a Super Bowl title begin. A team that wins in the Wild-Card round might just carry that momentum until the final ticks of the Super Bowl tick off. Will that happen this year? It remains to be seen.
Let’s take a look at the team that just might pull this off, the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles. If you had told me that they’d walk into Soldier Field and beat the Bears, I would’ve said it’s possible but it wasn’t going to happen. Well, thanks to the magic of Nick Foles and the finger tip of Treyvon Hester, the Eagles had earned a one way ticket to…oh god, well get back to this.
On the flip side, the LOB-less Seattle Seahawks fought to the death against the Dallas Cowboys and the shadow commissioner of the NFL. To be honest, I thought the Boys were done after Allen Hurns’ injury. It seemed to suck the life out of the team and the stadium and I thought, “Well, this game’s over.” Not so, said Dallas. Dak, Zeke and the rest of the gang pulled together and escaped Wild-Card weekend by the skin on their balls.
So it is they’ll be heading out to Rome Coliseum to fight the Lions. Excuse me, I meant to say they’re heading out to The Grand Old Lady to face the 13-3 LA Rams who include the games most dominant defensive force, the leagues best running back and Jared Goff, who’s gone from sure-fire bust to one of the games best quarterbacks. I’d like to think Dallas can carry the momentum into the Coliseum and beat the Rams but something tells me they’ll lose to Los Angeles in a fashion similar to Philly’s week 11 loss to the Saints…
I told you we’d return to this.
Yes ladies and gentlemen, the Philadelphia Eagles are returning to the Super Dome to take on the league’s number one rated team. As I just mentioned, they lost by 4 points the last team this happened. New Orleans didn’t just embarrass the Eagles, they handed them the worst defeat a defending champion has ever had.
Many thought the Eagles were shot down after this game but they continue to fly.
It would be the perfect dish of revenge if the Eagles walked into New Orleans and devastated their fan base. I was always told to never go past the margin of victory in competition, just in case you faced the same team down the line. Philly has won six of their last seven games and have that week 11 beat down fresh in their minds.
At the same time, Drew Brees is looking for another title before he walks off into the sunset. If you think the Saints aren’t taking the Eagles seriously, I’d have to disagree with you. I’m sure Sean Payton is telling his guys to watch tape of the 2009 NFC Championship because he’ll want his defense to do to Nick Foles what his defense did to Brett Favre in that fateful game.
Speaking of which, what ever happened to Tracy Porter?
I digress. I wish Allen Hurns the best. That poor son of a gun might never play football again but it would be the story to end all stories if he somehow managed to suit up for another NFL team. While it’s unlikely, I’d never count a man out. I don’t know if Dallas will beat Los Angeles or if the Eagles will get their revenge on the Saints. All I know is that these four teams will be facing each other and some football will be played.
For all I know, we might just watch the greatest game in NFL history this weekend.
