Could the McCourty brothers be separated?

Devin McCourty is already signed and committed to return for the 2019 season. But that’s not the same predicament for his brother. His brother Jason who has just joined the team this past season has expressed interest in continuing to play for the Patriots although there has been no talk about a possible contract extension. This leaves fans to question will the Patriots backfield be okay this upcoming season. The answer is Yes. They have been in this situation before. Look at Malcolm Butler for example. Great player, made a difference like McCourty. Butler arguably won the Patriots a Super Bowl. He caught a game-winning interception that honestly came from luck and bad play calling. But the point is if he didn’t get that interception the Patriots most likely lost. But where is he now? Playing for another team. McCourty arguably did the same thing. He stopped would could have been a touchdown, but he tipped the ball out of Cooks hands during a play late in the Rams vs Patriots Super Bowl. He stopped a touchdown that could have put the Rams in business. Whether McCourty returns or not, the Patriots will be ok. Devin is returning and the Patriots could use Jason, but they don’t necessarily need him. Expect them to shop him around to see what they can get out of him before extending him for 1-2 years.
