Scouting Report: Devin White
Scouting Report: Devin White
LB – LSU
6’0” – 237 Lbs
Summary: Devin White can best be described as a freak of nature. White has every bit of what NFL teams are looking for in a star linebacker. He is a hard-hitting linebacker with the speed to get from sideline-to-sideline. In fact, his 4.42 forty-yard dash would have been in the top five fastest among defensive backs and was the fastest among all linebackers. His athleticism can be one of the most important strengths to White as he is a rare mix of speed, quickness, and strength. He has the ability to play in coverage as well. While White is obviously an athlete who can make a tackle at any part of the field his ability to stay active against the pass is somewhat underrated. White continuously showed that he could stay active and bat down passes across the middle of the field and uses his speed to shut down screens and other check-down plays. While White has a lot of strengths, he does have his weaknesses. His biggest weakness is that he tends to be tricked on play-action or other types of trick plays or misdirections. However, his athletic ability commonly allowed for him to make up for these plays in college he will need to improve on his ability to read these plays in the NFL. White can fit into any NFL system and become a superstar talent and should give whatever team that drafts him a huge boost on the defensive side of the ball. While he has his athletic strengths his dedication to watching film to try and be the smartest that he can on his opponent should not be overlooked.
Strengths: Athleticism, Tackling, Hard-working, Student (always looking to learn)
