Around Buffalo, we’ve been hurt. We’ve been hurt by a force that comes in from the Northeast, the Patriots of New England. They’re a force that’s killed us for the last 20 years because of their coach, their quarterback and their freak of nature tight end who just hung them up.

For this reason, many around Buffalo are hoping the Bills will take TJ Hockenson out of Iowa. I get why they want this. Hokenson has the size, athleticism, and hands to become Josh Allen’s favorite target. He can also be put into the slot and used as an underneath receiver.

At the same time, there’s been some criticism of his blocking ability. More of it is geared toward his pass blocking as opposed to his run blocking but all the same, the Bills need every last piece they can get in regards to the line. In this regard, maybe the Bills shouldn’t select Hockensen that high.

Then again, the Bills have been hesitant to draft high on Lineman ever since the Mike Williams fiasco. Their thinking might be that Hokenson is exactly what they want. Depending on what kind of offense they’re trying to run, maybe he’s the best fit. At Iowa, he snagged 73 balls for 1,080 yards and for 9 TDs. 15 yards per catch, unbelievable.

    These numbers look familiar.

They’re almost identical to the numbers put up by DK Metcalf. I don’t understand why people around the league seem to praise Hockensen for the same numbers as Metcalf. All I know is that I find it strange and I still feel the Bills should select Metcalf of Oliver over TJ Hockenson .

Alas, if the Bills do select Hockenson , which I think they will, I won’t be disappointed. I think the intangibles and skill of blocking can be worked upon by proper coaching by Sean McDermott’s staff. Allen needs someone like Hockenson to compensate for what’s been called shaky short accuracy. In this regard, perhaps Hockensen is the best fit.

All I know is the draft is coming nearer and no one knows whom the Bills will get. Even the players they want to draft might not be there. Though I’d rather they select Metcalf or Oliver, I’ll understand if they take Hokenson. I hope he’s a solid if selected, Allen would have a nice option.

Nice options = Winning
