Draft Bust Predictions

I call this the makeup hour during the NFL offseason. The reason I call it that is because every year during the month of April many media outlets does their best to either raise or lower the stocks of potential draftees. Kinda sorta what happens to females when they wear makeup. But I digress. For example, this year we’ve heard and or seen the comments made by Charlie Casserly about potential 1st round pick Kyler Murray stating “These were the worst comments I ever got on a top-rated quarterback, and I’ve been doing this a long time.” Casserly also went on to say “Leadership - not good. Study habits - not good. The board work - below not good.” “Not good at all in any of those areas, raising major concerns about what this guy is going to do.” Then you also have guys like John Sheeran who have stated that Montez Sweat could go in the top 10 and doesn’t see him going past 11 to the Bengals. Sheeran stated “Sweat has a résumé that the NFL will always value. If not for names like Nick Bosa and Josh Allen, it may not even be a discussion if Sweat is gone after the first 10 picks.” This is what happens all the time, but something we never really see or hear is someone claiming a 1st round pick as a bust. Whelp, that why I’m here. I’m going to let you know who’s stock is entirely too high to be selected in the 1st round and the reason why their career will be similar to the Brady 6. In addition, even if they aren’t completely like the Brady 6 I’m going to advise of the players that won’t live up to expectations. Similarly to Alex Smith.

My 1st player that is going to bust is Quinnen Williams. He is a projected top 5 pick and I understand why. He played for a premier program, he showed out at the combine, and he seemed to manhandle any offensive lineman in college. News Flash, history tends to repeat itself and it sure will this time around. Let me ask a question, who is the best defensive lineman in the NFL to come out of Alabama? Does Marcel Dareus still hold that title? Or are we giving that to John Allen? None the less, with Williams I see a lot of Terrance Cody. The only difference to me is one was drafted as the 57th pick and the other is a projected top 5 pick. Sorry Quinnen but I see bust written all over you.

My next player is TJ Hockenson. I’ve seen some people had him going in the top 10. Yes, my mind was blown too. But come on guys, you mean to tell me that this guy is a top 10 college football player? No way, but then you’re going to tell me that he’s the best TE in college football right? Wrong, he’s not even better than his own teammate Noah Fant. The main reason he is getting this amount of love is because of the emergence of 49ers TE George Kittle, who by the way, was a 5th round pick and you want me to believe Hockenson is that much better than Kittle? I don’t believe that to be true at all. Sorry TJ but I see bust written all of you.

My final player is Drew Lock. His numbers are very appealing to the eye and even when I watched the film on him I catch myself saying “wow this dude knows how to sling it.” I don’t know what it is but something is missing, I feel as though he’s missing the proverbial (it) factor or maybe I’ve seen this guy before. Not literally, but does Case Keenum ring a bell? Lock has very elite stats in the college ranks just like Case. He seems to know exactly where to place the ball at, on the collegiate level, just like Case. The major difference is Case Keenum wasn’t even drafted. No not at all, but Lock is a projected 1st rounder. Word to the wise or better yet, to John Elway. Stay away! Picking him could be hazardous. Sorry Drew but I see bust written all over you.
