I do recall writing about this schedule a little while back but we know who the Bills will be playing, where they’ll be playing and when they’ll be playing. The first two games will be played down in the Meadowlands before a back-to-back home match-up with the Cincinnati Bengals and the 10 times defending AFC East Champion Patriots.

A week five visit to Graceland and the Tennessee Titans is followed up by a week six bye. From there, the Bills will have a nice home front as the Dolphins, Eagles, and Redskins all come to town. Visits to Cleveland and Miami follow in weeks 10 and 11. A home game against the Broncos is then followed by the first Thanksgiving game in 25 years for the Bills. This time, it’s against the Cowboys.

The Bills will face the Ravens at home followed by a visit to Steeltown in week 15. Another visit to the buzzsaw that is Gillette Stadium before the Bills finish off the 2019 season at home against the Jets. Hopefully, the Bills will still be in the hunt or will have secured a playoff spot by that time.

Like many, I know not what to make of this schedule. What appears to be an easy win or a sure loss on paper does not always translate when the actual game is played. The Bills are said to be a team on the rise and this schedule presents some nice challenges to prove that’s the case.

Naturally, I chalk off both games against New England as losses but New England’s starting to show their age. I would guess wins against both the Jets and Giants but I said the same thing heading into this year. If Buffalo can play at the Meadowlands as they did in 2018, we should have no issues.

A win against the Bengals is possible, as is a win down in Tennessee. That homestand against the Eagles and Redskins is important because a win or loss against the Dolphins could dictate how those games go. A split between either Cleveland or Miami is expected but boy, wouldn’t it be nice to get a win in both games?

It would also be nice if the Bills could emerge victorious this time around on Thanksgiving. Last time, the Bills lost hand over fist to the Detroit Lions as Barry Sanders ran all over the damn field. This time, I’m expecting an even bigger beatdown at the hands of the Cowboys. If the Bills can pull it off, it would be one or two possible upsets. The other, of course, being in Foxboro.

The last four games are a toss up but so are all of the games this season, or any season. I don’t expect the Bills to go down like the ’85 Bears or the ’76 Bucs but I can see them finishing somewhere in between. The record of 9-7 has been thrown around but I don’t quite see it. I could see an 8-8 but a 9-7 and playoffs? Well, if we do make the playoffs, I don’t think we’ll be ready.

But what better time to get ready?
