What will Patriots do Day 2? Will the Patriots trade for Josh Rosen?

After 15 minutes into the draft, fans from all over watched the Arizona Cardinals drafted Kyler Murray as the number one overall pick. That leads everyone to suspect they will trade their first-round pick from last season, Rosen. The first question is just how much is the player worth?

Rosen had the worse yards per attempt last season. He failed to make good decisions at the quarterback position and struggled against the blitz. But you can’t blame it all on him. A lot of his poor play had to do with coaching and play calling. Rosen displayed poise when he was able to sit in the pocket and relax. He looked comfortable and was more accurate.

Since he’s on the move he should go to an offense that already matches his play or is willing to adjust around his style. The Patriots already match his play. Under the right training, Rosen can fit right into the Patriots system. He will be able to sit behind that offensive line and make throws. I’m not saying he can be Tom Brady, but he’s a good fit.

With that being said, exactly what will the Patriots be willing to give up for him. They came into the draft tied with the highest number of picks (12), but which ones are they willing to part with. They have 5 picks on the day between the 2nd and 3rd round. They have the ammunition if they want to fire.

The Patriots can trade the 56th overall pick for Josh Rosen. That’s not a bad play. The can come right back with the 64th pick and grab a nice pass rusher or defensive back. Then they can load up in the 3rd round grabbing a much-needed tight end and more defensive depth.
But can Rosen be a leader for the team like Brady? That’s hard to say. However, sitting behind Brady for a few years will mold the young quarterback into success. There is also the matter of Brady saying he is going to play until he is 50. Is it worth giving up a 2nd round pick, for a player who may never even start for the team? One thing is for sure, big things are going to happen for the Patriots Day 2.
