QB – Ohio State

6’3” – 220 Lbs

Summary: Haskins is a very impressive quarterback in many different ways. The two things that impressed me the most from him were his accuracy and his ability to read the defense. While the arm talent is obvious to anyone who watches, his ability to read the defense shines brightly when looking over his film. The biggest downside to Haskins is people tend to look at the powerhouse offense at which he played in and the talent that he was surrounded with, but also the fact that Ohio State is not known for its Quarterbacks turning out well in the NFL. However, Haskins is different from those in the past. Haskins is a true pocket passer who has a great arm, and possibly an even better football IQ. One key thing that goes against the talent around Haskins making him look better than he is, is a large number of drops by receivers on plays where Haskins delivered a great ball on some very big play opportunities. As a one-year starter at Ohio State Haskins shined including earning the interest of the Heisman voters where he finished in third behind Kyler Murray of Oklahoma and Tua Tagovailoa of Alabama. But Haskins talents go deeper than the statistics. No QB in this draft is a guarantee to be a great player in the NFL but I think Haskins has the least questions among the ones in this draft. His IQ and elite leveled accuracy should be enough for him to have a successful career in the NFL as long as he is put in a situation where he is not needed to carry his team early on. Best case scenario for Haskins would be the Patriots where he could learn under Brady for a short time until either Brady retires, or he gets his chance somewhere else. Sitting a year under Eli in New York would be good for him to allow for the game to slow down before being thrown into the ring versus an NFL defense.

Strengths: Accuracy, IQ

Weaknesses: Lack of mobility, inexperience

Projection: Top 10 pick
