Playtime is over. It’s time for Brady’s successor.
Although we don’t want to believe it, Tom Brady is human. His success must be coming to an end soon. Or will he really play until he is 50? Well, the numbers don’t show a decline. He played some of his best football last season. That’s even with the lack of talent on the receiving side.
All things considered, it’s safe to assume, the Patriots are finally going to get Brady’s successor this coming draft. It would be foolish not to. And I’m not saying Belichick is a fool if he doesn’t draft a QB. I’m just saying why would they not. I don’t see the team comfortable to move forward with Brian Hoyer backing up Brady. It’s just nonsense. If Brady is out for even 2 games, that’s 2 games lost. Yes, Belichick is the true reason behind success, but you still need a captain at QB. Hoyer isn’t that. That’s why he was let go twice before. Although this time may be different. It’s suspected the team will keep him to help mentor Brady’s successor.
Yes, there is the claim Danny Etling may be able to take on the role of Brady’s successor. But you can count him out as well. All his NFL games were terrible. I mean yea finally cleaned up a little preseason week 4, but his passing ability was terrible. That’s what got him sent to the practice squad. He was most likely only brought back as an insurance policy for the Super Bowl. If Brady became ineligible to play as a result of injury, Etling was going in. He may get a second chance to prove his worth in training camp or preseason. However, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him released if a QB is drafted.
