NFC North Draft Grades
Green Bay Packers: B+
Summary: Rashaan Gary was a solid pick and should be able to apply some pressure on opposing QBs immediately. Darnell Savage was a safety that I was really high on coming into the draft and I think adding him to an increasingly youthful defense should not be overlooked. Sternberger is not flashy but has consistent hands and should be a solid number two behind Jimmy Graham.
Minnesota Vikings: B+
Summary: The Bradbury pick was great for this team and more importantly for Dalvin Cook who looks to come back at full health and now has the best center from this draft paving the way for him up the middle. Irv Smith could be a solid receiving TE in the league. The best pick that the Vikings could quite possibly be getting Kris Boyd in the 7th. Boyd struggled with tracking the ball in the air and had lapses in his coverage but when in big situations against big players played extremely well. Don’t be surprised if Boyd makes a push for some playing time coming soon.
Chicago Bears: B-
Summary: Due to the small number of picks they had I can’t exactly give them a super high grade. David Montgomery was a great pick to replace Jordan Howard. Riley Ridley should be a solid receiver in the league though as of right now he doesn’t look like he will be anything special.
Detroit Lions: B-
Summary: TJ Hockenson was most likely the best TE to come out of this draft, however taking a TE in the top 10 is questionable. Jahlani Tavai was a definite reach in the 2nd round. Getting Amani Oruwariye could make up for the reaches and misses made by the Lions in this draft. I also think getting Isaac Nauta late in the draft was a solid pick up.
