Biggest Winners and Losers in the NFL: Week 11
Winners
Los Angeles Rams
With numerous questions coming into the season, the Rams have established the fact that they are back and look like a team that can win the Super Bowl. In Week 11, Los Angeles took down a strong Buccaneers squad 27-24. They are now 7-3 and lead the NFC West, which is regarded as the toughest division in football. They have proved to beat you defensively, on the ground, and in this past game, they threw their way to victory. The Rams are scary and right now they look like the second-best team in the NFC.
Cleveland Browns
The Cleveland Browns are 7-3. No, that is not a typo. After a disappointing 2019 campaign, the Cleveland Browns look like a team that can make the playoffs in a loaded AFC. Cleveland is 2-0 since their bye week and has dominated defenses with their rushing attack featuring Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. On the other hand, the defense is making plays, taking the ball away, and getting pressure on the quarterback. Against the Eagles, Cleveland sacked Carson Wentz five times without DE Myles Garrett playing. In Week 12, Cleveland will face off against the Jacksonville Jaguars, a game they should win even with some key players out. If Cleveland can take care of business, they will move to 8-3 going into a big game against the Tennessee Titans.
New Orleans Saints
Probably the best team that nobody talks about, but the New Orleans Saints are 8-2 and 1st in the NFC. To add to this, they have won seven in a row, and have proven the ability to win without QB Drew Bress, who is on injured reserve. The Saints are arguably the most complete team in football and look poised to run away with the NFC South. With a fairly easy schedule on their hands, it is looking like the Saints are just getting started and maybe poised to finally take home a Super Bowl in 2020.
Losers
Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals are not on this list because they lost, but rather who they lost. First overall pick QB Joe Burrow was lost for the season against Washington, tearing his MCL and ACL. Burrow was showing a ton of promise in his rookie year, making this a crushing blow for an organization that was ready to start building around their franchise QB. At 2-7-1 and without a starting QB, it is going to be a long year from here on out with not much to look forward to without their prized piece out until possibly into the 2021 season. Cincinnati can only hope for better, even though it does not look good right now.
Minnesota Vikings
Going into Week 11, the Minnesota Vikings were 4-5, but had three favorable opponents ahead of them with a chance to get right back into the playoff mix. Despite this, the games must be played, and the Vikings blew a massive opportunity against a Cowboy team that earned their third win on Sunday. Minnesota is now 4-6 and will have a massive uphill battle to climb if they want the slightest chance to make the playoffs in 2020.
Detroit Lions
Like the Vikings, the Detroit Lions had a golden opportunity to get to .500 and maybe gain some momentum going into the stretch run of the season. Instead, the Lions let a backup quarterback and a rebuilding Panther team embarrass them, getting shut out in a 20-0 loss. This may have been the last straw for head coach Matt Patricia, who has been on the hot seat since he entered the head coaching world, which is looking worse and worse every week. The Lions will look to salvage this loss against the Houston Texans on Thanksgiving with the hope to give themselves a slither of hope to make the playoffs in 2020.
