Buy Low

Evan Engram, New York Giants Tight End

Look for the Giants to find themselves in a number of shootouts all season. The Giants are a team with a terrible defense all around that should be trailing more often than not. With injuries to key players such as Saquon Barkley, Sterling Sheppard, and recently banged up Golden Tate, Evan Engram is in position for a massive target share. Given Slayton’s inconsistency, Evan Engram might be the most reliable pass catcher in that offense. Coming off a poor week 1 and a mediocre week 2, Engram should be a relatively low buy.

Carson Wentz, Philadelphia Eagles Quarterback

Getting lineman Lane Johnson, and running back Miles Sanders healthy is a step in the right direction for this Philadelphia offense. It is only a matter of time before Wentz gets his number one receiver, Alshon Jeffery, back. Considering the Eagles did not place Jeffery on IR, suggests he could be back as soon as this week. Regardless of his return, Wentz should have a bounce-back game against a Cincinnati defense that made Baker Mayfield look worthy of the number one overall pick. With two deep threats in DeSean Jackson and Jalen Reagor, along with big red-zone targets in Zack Ertz, Dallas Goedert, and Alshon Jeffery, this offense has the potential to be special. Looking ahead at Philadelphia’s schedule, they should find themselves in shootouts with high powered offenses such as the 49ers, Seahawks, Cardinals, and Cowboys twice, setting Wentz up to be a top tier fantasy QB the rest of the season. Buy Wentz low before he torches the Bengals this Sunday.

Keenan Allen, Los Angeles Chargers Wide Receiver

I understand Coach Lynne announced Tyrod Taylor would remain the starter when he is healthy, but I am simply not buying it. Justin Herbert looked phenomenal in his debut against the reigning Super Bowl Champs, the Kansas City Chiefs, in a game which he should have won. With Herbert under center, Keenan Allen saw double-digit targets and managed to haul in seven of them for 96 yards. This was someone the Chargers extended in the offseason to play a crucial role in their offense. Even if Tyrod does return as the starter, given the performance we saw from Herbert and the first-round draft capital that was spent in acquiring him, it is only a matter of time before the rookie takes over at the helm. Buy Keenan low now before he has a big blow-up game that we have grown accustomed to.

Sell High

Nick Chubb, Cleveland Browns, Running Back

Although Chubb’s performance Thursday night was impressive, it was somewhat expected. This effort came against a poor Bengal’s run defense missing their all-pro, Geno Atkins, along with former pro-bowler offseason addition, Mike Daniels, on the interior defensive line. This is back to back weeks now where Cincy has surrendered 20+ touches to the opposing lead back. I don’t expect Chubb to dominate the backfield in touches and see more of a committee between him and Hunt going further. Looking ahead, with matchups against tough run defenses such as Washington, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Pittsburgh twice, now is the time to be selling Chubb high after a blow-up performance.

Stefon Diggs, Buffalo Bills, Wide Receiver

There is no denying that Stefon Diggs is an elite wide receiver but, let's take a closer look at his opponents these past few weeks. Diggs is coming off monster performances against a bottom tier Jets team and the Dolphins without their number one cornerback, Byron Jones. Diggs and Allen were both able to take full advantage of these matchups as Allen posted career highs in passing yards in both outings, largely due to Stephon Diggs. This is something that should regress for both moving forward as they have matchups with elite cornerbacks in Jalen Ramsey, Patrick Peterson, and defensive player of the year, Stephon Gilmore, twice this season. Diggs has shown to be inconsistent week to week, but given he was able to put up back to back big performances, now is the time to sell him high.

Juju Smith-Schuster, Pittsburgh Steelers, Wide Receiver

After two weeks in the books, Juju looks like the second fiddle in that Pittsburgh offense. He has been out targeted by fellow teammate, Diontae Johnson, twice. Juju’s impressive performance in week 1 came on the back end of two receiving touchdowns against a poor Giants defense. With another favorable matchup the following week against an injury-riddled Denver Broncos missing their starting cornerback, A.J. Bouye, the results were not the same. Although Juju didn’t bust by any means, Sunday showed us what you can expect from Smith-Schuster when he doesn’t find the end zone. With other mouths to feed and a great defense, it’s hard to predict how many scoring opportunities Juju will see the rest of the season. Considering Juju is coming off a great week 1 and a double-digit PPR performance in week 2, sell him high before a down week.
