Week 3 Fantasy Streamers: Tannehill a Weekly Starter?
Ryan Tannehill, Tennessee Titans, Quarterback
Since taking over as the starter in week 7 of last season, Tannehill has picked up right where he left off. Through the first two weeks, he has thrown for six passing touchdowns and is currently a QB1. This trend should continue as he faces a Minnesota defense that has given up 71 points in two weeks and can’t seem to stop anyone. Tannehill should be able to continue his hot streak and put up points against a favorable matchup. Not only is Ryan Tannehill a viable option this week, but he is someone that should be rostered for the rest of the season.
Drew Sample, Cincinnati Bengals, Tight End
A former second-round pick, Drew Sample is someone the Bengals spent high draft capital in acquiring. After finishing the previous season with just five catches in nine games before being placed on IR, Sample saw a career-high seven receptions, after C.J. Uzomah left the game last week. Burrow has been accustomed to featuring his tight ends, helping former college teammate, Thaddeus Moss, set LSU single-season records for most receptions and receiving yards by a tight end. This has carried over to the NFL as Joe Burrow targeted tight ends Uzomah and Sample 15 times, allowing them to combine for 11 receptions, 87 yards, and a touchdown Thursday night. With C.J. Uzomah out for the season with a torn Achilles, Sample’s role should increase. Facing an Eagles defense that has given up 4 touchdowns to tight ends in the last two weeks, Drew Sample could be in line for a big day.
Los Angeles Rams, D/ST
Coming off two high scoring performances against bottom-tier defenses in the Jets and Dolphins, this is the first time the Bills offense will be put to the test. The Rams kept a high-powered Dallas offense in check week 1, and I expect them to do the same this Sunday. Josh Allen has been a quarterback prone to turning the ball over, setting up the Rams defense to score some fantasy points. With Aaron Donald on the interior defensive line and Jalen Ramsey in the secondary, there is always the potential for sacks and turnovers.
