CFB: Weekly Risers Week 10

Week 10 of the NCAA Season featured even more crazy college football hijinks. Five top 25 teams were upset this weekend, including previously undefeated #3 Michigan State by Purdue. Alabama and Cincinnati were both on upset watch this weekend but could come away with the victories. The only usual things you can expect every week is #1 Georgia cleaning house with whoever they play, and a new batch of weekly risers.

Jahan Dotson, WR Penn State

Jahan Dotson should be one of the most highly touted receivers in the 2022 NFL Draft Class. Before the season Dotson was easily one of my favorite receivers in the NCAA, and he’s done nothing but impress in 2021. The senior speedster is having his best season yet, with 932 yards and nine touchdowns through nine games. This past weekend Dotson broke the single-game receiving yards record for the Nittany Lions with 242 yards, scoring three times as well. Dotson might be smaller but he plays above his size and is a nightmare to cover with his speed.

Rachaad White, RB Arizona State

Rachaad White is a running back you should be watching out for in the draft. Coming out of high school no one expected White to be in this situation. With zero division one offers, White redshirted a year at division two, University of Nebraska at Kearney before transferring to junior college Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, California. White was a late commit to Arizona State and has become a key member of the Sun Devils over the past two years.

After averaging 10 yards a carry in limited work last year, White has broken out as one of the best backs in the nation. Against USC White put up 202 yards and three touchdowns against the Trojans. A lot of buzz has been made around the league about White, one of the smoothest backs in the nation.

Jerreth Sterns, WR Western Kentucky

From one transfer portal superstar to another, Western Kentucky hit the jackpot this year. While most of the attention has been paid to breakout quarterback Bailey Zappe, a transfer from FCS school Houston Baptist who is currently leading the NCAA in passing yards and touchdowns, fellow Houston Baptist transfer Jerreth Sterns has been just as impressive.

As the lead target for Zappe brought to Western Kentucky, Sterns has been one of the most productive receivers in the nation. Sterns is first in the nation in receptions, with 16 more than second-place Drake London. Sterns is second in receiving yards with 1,276 and is tied for first in receiving touchdowns with 11. Sterns had a fine performance this week against Middle Tennessee State with 11 catches for 110 yards.

Deven Thompkins, WR Utah State

In the last entry, Jerreth Sterns is currently second in the nation in receiving yards. Deven Thompkins is the leader in receiving yards. Currently, Thompkins is averaging 146 yards a game. While on the smaller side, listed at 5’8 155, Thompkins is an explosive threat. Whether it’s with his speedy route running or with the ball in his hands, Thompkins is a threat to take it to the house every play. This past weekend, Thompkins had his finest performance against New Mexico State, 215 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Jameson Williams, WR Alabama

Jameson Williams continues to have an extremely impressive season. A relatively unknown during his first two years at Ohio State, Williams has flourished so far for the Crimson Tide. Williams currently leads the SEC in receiving yards with 870 and in yards per reception with 19.3. He has been one of the best deep threats in the country this season, if not the best. This past week against LSU further established Williams as the premier star wide receiver at Alabama, Williams catching 10 passes for 160 yards and a 58-yard touchdown. Don’t be surprised to see Williams start to be included in first-round talks.
