NFL Draft 2022 Weekly Risers: Week 13

What a regular season that was! You’ll be hard-pressed to find a season much crazier than the one we’ve just experienced. Nearly every slot in the top 25 has seen a different weekly occupant… of course except for #1. The only two constants are Georgia dominating and a new weekly crop of college players impressing. Here is the last batch of Weekly Risers for the 2021 NCAA Football season.

  1. Roger McCreary, CB Auburn

Saturday evening certainly gave football fans one of the biggest shocks of the season. #3 Alabama was completely unable to get anything going against their bitter rivals Auburn, the Tigers holding the Crimson Tide to 0 heading into the fourth quarter. While Auburn dominated the trenches, Roger McCreary might’ve had the most impressive performance of the night. McCreary was everywhere on the field, making play after play. He was all over Jameson Williams, then proceeded to give John Metchie trouble after Williams’ ejection. It was a true battle between stars. He was sticky in man coverage, good at getting his hands on passes, and looked like a possible first-round corner in the Iron Bowl.

2. Hassan Haskins, RB Michigan

It’s time to stop underrating Hassan Haskins. One of the lone bright spots on last year’s poor Michigan squad, Haskins has kept up his strong play in his senior season. Against the second-ranked team in the country, Haskins reached the endzone five times! Behind a strong Michigan line that deserves plenty of recognition for just dominating the Buckeyes defense drive after drive, Haskins was extremely hard to bring down with his tough running style. This year Haskins has 18 touchdowns, the same amount as Michigan State running back Kenneth Walker.

3. Breece Hall, RB Iowa State

Breece Hall reminded football fans emphatically Saturday that he is still here in the conversation for top running back in the 2022 NFL Draft. While Kenneth Walker has been killing it all season, second in rushing yards in his breakout junior season at Michigan State, Breece Hall is working on another phenomenal season. In his second 20+ touchdown season, Hall scored four of those this past weekend against TCU. It was his 24th straight game with a rushing touchdown, a new NCAA record. Hall has light feet for a big back and uses phenomenal patience and vision.

4. Devin Leary, QB/ Emeka Emezie North Carolina State

What a game UNC vs. NC State was! The Wolfpack looked down and out late against their in-state rivals. With 2:12 NC State was down by 9. Two touchdowns from Devin Leary to Emeka Emezie won it for NC State late. Leary finished the day with four passing touchdowns, Emezie with 112 yards, and the two touchdowns. Finally healthy, Leary has been extremely good for the Wolfpack this year, with 35 touchdowns and 3,443 yards. His favorite target Emezie has a career-high 802 yards and six touchdowns this year as well.

5. Jaivon Heiligh, WR Coastal Carolina

Heiligh has become almost the forgotten part of Coastal Carolina over the past two years despite being arguably the most productive member on the team. While much of the attention on offense has gone the way of quarterback Grayson McCall and tight end Isaiah Likely, both very good players, Heiligh is once again having a stellar year for the Chanticleers. In a battle of superstar receivers involving Jalen Tolbert (who had 191 receiving yards and could earn a spot every single week), Heiligh caught six passes for 87 yards and a touchdown. The all-time receiving leader for Coastal Carolina, watch for Heiligh at the East-West Shrine Bowl in Las Vegas this February.
