2021 NFL Draft Best Players Available on Day Two
The first round of the NFL Draft certainly was an exciting one. It was very interesting how the board played out in Cleveland. A lot of talented players heard their names called by the commissioner, but with this being an extremely deep draft there are a ton of extremely talented players available on day two. Here are the players you should have a good eye on for your team to target on day two.
Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, LB/S Notre Dame
Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah slipping out of the first round was probably the biggest surprise of the night to most followers of the draft. He was near universally seen as a first-round talent, a guy that would be a good defensive coordinator's dream. A guy that can perform almost any role asked of him.
Reports have come out that teams aren’t quite sure what position JOK is going to play. JOK is an extremely talented player and could easily be the steal of the draft if he goes to the right situation. Don’t expect the slide to be too much longer on day two.
Azeez Ojulari, EDGE Georgia
The second of three consensus first-round picks over the draft process on this list, Azeez Ojulari is another player sliding. Ojulari was seen as someone who potentially could’ve been the first pass rusher off the board, but is now seeing a slide into the 2nd round that could possibly keep going. Reports came out that many teams have dropped Ojulari on their boards due to a knee injury discovered at the NFL Combine. Hopefully, the slide isn’t too far for the Georgia pass rusher, and he can stay healthy and provide great day two value for a team.
Teven Jenkins, OT Oklahoma State
Teven Jenkins is the last of the “How did he not get taken in the first?” entries on this list. There were a lot of people out there that saw Jenkins as high as the third overall offensive tackle in this draft class, perfect for any team needing a right tackle. It’s possible that because of the great depth at offensive tackle, some of the top guys possibly slipped a tad bit. Nobody expected Christian Darrisaw to last all the way to 23. There’s a possibility that Jenkins slid to the top of the second due to being a right tackle, just like with Jacksonville Jaguar and former Florida Gator Jawaan Taylor. Whatever the case, some team needing a right tackle or a guard is going to get a massive steal at the top of the 2nd with Teven Jenkins
Christian Barmore, DT Alabama
Christian Barmore’s stock has been all over the place over the past month. His draft value has ranged from borderline top ten to the 2nd round. It’s hard to gauge where the Alabama defensive tackle will go. This interior d-line class is not great, how many times do you see not a single defensive tackle taken in the first round? Christian Barmore has extremely great flashes on tape as a pass rusher, especially down the home stretch of last season in the most important games, but he never was a true starter for the Crimson Tide. There also are reports that teams are afraid of his willingness to be coached.
Maybe going in the 2nd is even better for Barmore. He will need time to develop, as he wasn’t a true starter at Alabama. He’s going to best be served as a rotational defensive tackle early on until he rounds out his game more. There will be a bit less expectation for him to start right away, and be dominant right away as there would if he was selected in the first. He has a lot of talent and should be one of the marquee players of day two.
Creed Humphrey, IOL Oklahoma
Creed Humphrey is a player that is good enough to go in the first round but falls a bit due to positional value. Creed Humphrey most likely is going to be a center-only prospect. It’s hard enough for any interior lineman to go in the first, let alone a true center, with more value placed on the tackles. That being said, Creed Humphrey is the dream 2nd round pick for any team without an elite center. When you draft Creed, you’re going to get a very good center for the next decade. He’ll provide a team the value of an Alex Mack, with the smarts and leadership to go alongside great ability.
