2021 NFL Draft: Best Players Available on Day Three
Day two of the NFL Draft was insane. There were so many surprising picks, and as always, it was extremely fun. A lot of talent was taken in the first, but there is a surprising amount of top-tier talent that has slipped into day three. Here are six guys that could potentially be day three steals for whichever team is smart enough to draft them.
Trey Smith, OG Tennessee
Trey Smith is a player I am very surprised is still on the board heading into the 4th round. He tested otherworldly at his pro day and has extremely powerful tape. He might be a bit raw, but there’s very good potential in Trey Smith. With proper coaching, Trey Smith can be a steal for a team on day three.
Tylan Wallace, WR Oklahoma State
Tylan Wallace was always going to be a player underrated. He doesn’t have the elite size of some of the other receivers in the draft. He didn’t test extremely well either, showing just solid speed. What Tylan Wallace does have is three years of really good production at Oklahoma State. He is a good route runner and has some of the best hands in the class. He can be a very good secondary contributor to whichever team drafts him on day three.
Amon-Ra St. Brown, WR USC
Amon-Ra St. Brown is a receiver I’m very surprised to see available at the end of day two. There are a lot of things to like about St. Brown. He has some really nice ability after the catch and runs really nice routes as a slot receiver. He might not be the most dynamic player, but he is one of the better all-around receivers in this draft. Some team is going to get a very solid slot weapon.
Quincy Roche, EDGE Miami
Quincy Roche might not be a prospect for every team. He might be a bit undersized, and that might limit his ability to be an every-down defender. But just as a pass rusher, Roche is one of the better players in this draft. Roche is a technician who uses pass rush moves, along with his great flexibility. For a team looking for a rotational designated pass rusher, or just an outside linebacker in a 3-4, Roche could be their guy in the 4th.
Jabril Cox, LB LSU
This is one not many people saw coming. How rare is it for a linebacker this athletic, with good productive tape, to last all the way into the 4th round? There is a bit of tackling issues with Cox, but Jabril Cox can be one of the better coverage linebackers in the league. He should be a premium pick in the fourth.
Ar’Darius Washington, S TCU
Ar’Darius Washington suffers the same fate as Tylan Wallace. There are players who were taken already with better measurables and pro days, but not better tape. Washington is super small at only 5’8. He doesn’t run the fastest 40-time. It is no surprise for any fan of the TCU safety that he is still here on day three. Washington has been one of the biggest day three steal candidates of the draft. He has top-tier film for a safety. The man can flat out play. He’s the underdog that we can all root for on day three.
