Tattnall Square WR Brayden Smith is a Diamond in the Rough

2023 WR and RB, Brayden Smith is surely a diamond in the rough. Out of Tattnall Square Academy in Macon, Georgia, he has somewhat flown under the radar. Being from Middle Georgia poses several barriers for many athletes around the state. With the Metro Atlanta being saturated with talent, many recruiters and likely to overlook the talent pool of the more rural parts of the state. However, there is no shortage of talent as you head down 75 South. Tattnall Square athlete, Brayden Smith is a prime example.

In Smith’s Junior season, he was extremely efficient with the ball in his hands. In an offense that primarily ran the ball and spread it around to several different players, Smith was able to bring in 12 touchdowns in 10 games and had a deep playoff run to match.

Standing at 5’10’’ and 170 pounds, Smith is more of a balanced receiver than the typical slot guy. He is strong for his size and is able to challenge defenders at the top of routes with speed. His ability to snap down into his breaks creates issues for underneath defenders as he is able to always find space in the zone.

Smith gets very limited time running the full route tree at Tattnall Square, but in his spring 7-on-7 season, Smith clearly shows he has a full arsenal against some of the top athletes in the state. He is a refined athlete that will see his recruiting heat up.

Currently, Smith has a single offer from Michigan State, which will undoubtedly open some eyes from other schools in the conference and beyond. With Michigan State being his sole offer, it will be interesting to see how heavy his recruiting picks up over the next few months.
