NCAA.com Releases Early 2019 Top 25; Clemson #1
1. Clemson
The College Championship MVP Trevor Lawrence will be returning for his sophomore year, along with plenty of key players and coaches. Giving this offense another year to gel and improve will make them even more dangerous. Clemson will be the team to beat next season
2. Alabama
With Hurts most likely to transfer, Saban can now put his full focus on Tua. We’re still waiting on draft decisions and coaching changes, but with the top recruiting class, the Tide will have no problem filling in the gaps. Look at Alabama to make another run at the title next season.
3. Ohio St.
The Urban Meyer era is over and a Ryan Day will be starting next season as the Buckeyes head coach. They will be losing some key starters on offense in Dwayne Haskins, Mike Weber, and Parris Campbell, and we will have to see how the team adjusts to the new coach. If Justin Fields transfers from Georgia and J.K. Dobbins has a breakout year, Ohio St. could see itself in the playoffs next season.
4. Georgia
After a let down against Alabama, Georgia was left out of the playoffs. Georgia should have a great defense again this year; it’s the offense that worries me. The Bulldogs will be losing Elijah Holyfield, Isaac Nauta, Riley Ridley, and Mecole Hardman. Quarterback Jake Fromm will need to take over on offense and the run game will be led by D’Andre Swift who rushed for over 1,000 yards last year.
5. Oklahoma
Kyler Murray seems like he won’t be returning next season, but Lincoln Riley never has any trouble finding quarterbacks to play for him. CeeDee Lamb is a stud and any QB will benefit throwing to him. The biggest issue is the defense. Just as easy as they scored, they allowed points as well.
