What Top Free Agents Could the Eagles Look At?

The Eagles are strapped for cap space, so expecting to land a top free agent would be unrealistic. With that said, we’re going to look at some of the best available players that would interest the Eagles and determine if they have any chance at landing them.

1. Le’Veon Bell, RB, Age 26

The Eagles have a pressing need at the RB position, and what better fix than signing the best RB of the last five years? He’s only 26 and took last season off, which could be beneficial, considering the fact that he’s always near the top of the league in touches. The big issue is his asking price, and after he turned down some HUGE offers from Pittsburgh, I don’t see how even Howie Roseman could pull this one off.

2. Grady Jarrett, DT, Age 25

The fourth-year pro firmly established himself as one of the league’s best interior defensive linemen this past season. The Eagles love to build in the trenches, and with Timmy Jernigan and Haloti Ngata possibly both on the way out, why not pair Jarrett with game-wrecker Fletcher Cox? A duo like that would terrorize offenses for years to come, but with GJ just entering his prime, his contract would present a big issue for Philly.

3. Frank Clark, DE, Age 25

There are some elite pass rushers available in free agency and Clark falls right below that tier. He’s young, so he won’t be cheap, but he could cost less than re-signing Brandon Graham. He dealt with injuries to both elbows this past season, but he still recorded 13 sacks.

4. C.J. Mosley, LB, Age 26

Mosley may be one of the most affordable on this list because inside linebackers aren’t receiving hefty contracts. It’s been reported that Jordan Hicks plans to test free agency, and Mosley would be an upgrade to the position. Hicks is a star when healthy, but availability is the best ability and he doesn’t have it. Even though some team will probably come along and offer Mosley more than we can, it doesn’t hurt to dream.

5. Ronald Darby, CB, Age 25

There were rumors of Darby returning on a prove-it deal, but it’s more likely that he finds a new home. The Eagles have a crowded cornerback room, and drafting a star CB high would make more sense than bringing back Darby. He’s shown flashes of high-quality play, but not enough consistency to be a #1 corner. He’s also coming off of a torn ACL, so looking in a different direction could be the best option for both sides.

6. Ndamukong Suh, DT, Age 32

Suh isn’t the youngest, but he showed us in the playoffs that he could still be dominant. Lining him up next to Fletcher Cox would be something to see, but it’s unsure whether he can sustain that level of play we saw recently for an entire season. His playoff performance may also raise his asking price.

7. Kwon Alexander, LB, Age 24

Alexander is the most realistic option on this list. He’s young, and he’s a good player with plenty of potential. Philly could buy low because he’s coming off of a torn ACL, and if he bounces back, he’d be a high-level replacement for Jordan Hicks. I wouldn’t be surprised if this happened.
