After the Giants told Odell Beckham to pack his bags, Giants fans looked at the negatives for the next couple weeks as they digested the fact that their favorite wideout who wore the number 13 every Sunday would be wearing brown and orange for the next 5 years. The Giants roster has major holes and is clearly not ready to compete in the tough NFC East but there still is talent left on the roster and there are guys that will benefit with the loss of Odell and finally have that breakout season. Giants tight end Evan Engram battled injuries in the 2018 season in the first half of the year he proved to be a liability when targeted dropping passes thrown left and right thrown by Eli Manning.  Engram was on NFL network recently, instead of mourning the loss of Odell Beckham like many of the other Giants stars that have been interviewed the last week or two have Evan seemed excited for the opportunity to star in the Giants offense. The games that Odell missed Engram played his best. The last 4 games of the season Engram had over 70 yards in each game and multiple scores. Evan looked like a new player. It’s hard to see when a talent like Odell Beckham leaves but the Giants have drafted playmaker after playmaker in high rounds of the draft that will get to step up now. Eli will not have to worry about getting the ball to specific players anymore. Spreading the ball around was one of the traits Eli was known for in his prime. His liking of big receivers with speed is also known around the league. Engram may be listed as a tight end but his ability to line up outside will be used often in Pat Shurmur and Mike Shula’s offense this year. Engrams attitude and work ethic that has been known as he constantly tries to excel in the blocking game that was non-existence in his rookie year has gotten better as he is realizing the better he blocks the more snaps he plays. People may think that Sterling Shepard is going to be the most prominent beneficiary of the offseason decisions made by the front office but Evan Engram is going to make his case of being the best weapon the Giants have. With Golden Tate and Sterling Shepard by his side, no one is going to run away statistically on this roster but all three will be considered there number 1 option at one point or another during this mysterious season the Giants will go through in 2019. Look for Evan Engram to build strong chemistry with Manning and cross that goal line his fair share in 2019.
