After a dominating win over the New York Giants in Week 1, the Dallas Cowboys handled their division foe, the Washington Redskins, with a 31-21 victory in DC. Dallas is now 2-0 and more importantly, they are already 2-0 in the division. Let’s look at the biggest stories of this Week 2 matchup.

Another Dak, Another Dollar

After a career performance in Week 1, Dak Prescott made his price tag go even higher in Week 2, completing 26/30 passes for 269 yards and three touchdowns. He did get picked off once, but it was a dropped pass. Prescott also used his legs very effectively in Week 2, running for 70 yards on 5 attempts, his longest being a 42-yard designed read option. On the season, Prescott has completed over 80% of his passes for 672 yards and seven touchdowns. His passer rating is second to Lamar Jackson through two weeks, holding a mark of 142.9. With a contract looming, Dak is only helping himself by putting numbers up like this.

Zeke Eclipses 100

While it was not flashy or full of a highlight reel, Ezekiel Elliott dominated the run game against a week Redskins defense. Back to a full workload after the holdout, Zeke ran 23 times for 111 yards and found the endzone for the second time this season. His biggest run was for only 27 yards, but his ability to move the chains and gaining yards in chunks is what makes Zeke worth the money he received. Look for Zeke to have an insane game in Week 3, as the Miami Dolphins have put up historically bad numbers in the first two weeks on defense.

Unsung Hero Shines for Dallas

The leading receiver for the Cowboys was who? Former Ohio State product Devon Smith finally got a chance in Week 2 and shined brighter than everyone. The speedster caught three passes for 74 yards and scored a 51-yard touchdown, burning past a shutdown corner in Josh Norman. Smith was a former second-round pick, so did Dallas find lightning in a bottle?

The Injury Bug

Like every week, injuries struck for an NFL team. On Sunday, emerging receiver Michael Gallup suffered a knee injury. There was no structural damage, but Gallup will have surgery and will miss 2-4 weeks. Also, defensive back Xavier Woods suffered a high ankle sprain and will miss 4-6 weeks. Look for rookie Donovan Wilson to have a bigger role in Week 3.  As for the Redskins, there has been no update on Derrius Guice.

Week 3 Matchups

Looking ahead to Week 3, the Cowboys will look to take care of business against Miami, who has been one of the worst teams in NFL history to start. It should be an easy ride for Dallas, but you never know. As for Washington, they will be taking on the Chicago Bears and will look to pick up their first win of the season.
