After some surprising inactives last week, it serves as a reminder to monitor the statuses of players dealing with injuries. When making waiver wire decisions, it is important to evaluate what players will benefit the most when a starter goes down and what their role will be. Based on some of these injuries and several teams on byes, here are some players that should be able to provide starting value for the week.

Derek Carr, Las Vegas Raiders, Quarterback

In a tough matchup against one of the league’s best defenses, Carr was still able to throw for 284 yards and two touchdowns last weekend. This marks five straight contests with multiple touchdowns for Derek Carr. He should be able to continue his consistency this Sunday against a Browns defense that has allowed 30-plus points in six of seven games and just surrendered 440 yards, along with four touchdowns to rookie quarterback Joe Burrow.

Honorable Mentions: Teddy Bridgewater, Baker Mayfield

Carlos Hyde, Seattle Seahawks, Running Back

After an injury to Chris Carson Sunday night, Hyde saw a season-high 18 touches and made the most of his opportunity, finishing with 76 yards and a touchdown. Hyde has shown the ability to serve as a lead back, rushing for over 1,000 yards last season. With Carson's status in question this weekend, Hyde should continue to see a heavy workload in a high-powered offense.

Honorable Mentions: JaMycal Hasty, Zack Moss

Brandon Aiyuk, San Francisco 49ers, Wide Receiver

Coming off a career-high six receptions for 115 yards, Aiyuk has the chance to build on a breakout performance. With several injuries to the 49ers’ backfield and receiver, Deebo Samuel, Aiyuk’s rushing and receiving ability should allow him to see plenty of opportunities against a favorable Seahawks defense this weekend.

Honorable Mentions: Corey Davis, Nelson Agholor

Harrison Bryant, Cleveland Browns, Tight End

In his first start, Bryant was able to capitalize, finishing with 56 yards and two touchdowns. Baker has shown a history of targeting his tight ends and with Hooper set to miss more time and OBJ out for the season, Bryant should continue to play a significant role in the Browns’ offense.

Honorable Mentions: Richard Rodgers, Trey Burton

Los Angeles Chargers, D/ST

In his last three games, Drew Lock has five turnovers and just one touchdown. This is a struggling team that has been plagued with injuries all season. Although the Chargers defense is dealing with some injuries of their own, they still have plenty of playmakers capable of shutting down the Broncos’ offense.

Honorable Mentions: Greenbay Packers, Tennessee Titans
