There was a time in my life when I would’ve jumped for joy at the sound of that sentence. Ever since his second overall selection in the 2010 NFL draft, the 6’4, 307 pound Ndamukong Suh has been a force to be reckoned with at the Defensive Tackle position. Dirty play and fines aside, Suh’s play with the Lion was looking like a sure-fire road to Canton, and maybe solidifying himself as the best DT to ever play the game.

In many ways, Suh has suffered from what I refer to as the “Illmatic” effect. Meaning that someone has a great season, usually a rookie season, and all of their other efforts are graded compared to that. Suh had one of the best Rookie seasons in NFL history and while he was a force in the league, he’s never been able to recapture that first-year magic.

Case in point. Miami released Suh in March of 2018 to, as they put it, “free up cap space”. Someone like Ndamukong Suh is going to demand a high price for his services but Miami, who signed him to the richest contract in NFL history, didn’t even want him to finish out his contract. When that happens, it means the player is not playing to the standard of the play.

So it was that he went to the Rams, and to be honest, I’m stunned he hasn’t stayed with the Rams but there must be some behind the scenes happenings that no one knows about. His being in Los Angeles took a lot of pressure off of Aaron Donald, meaning that Offensive Lineman now had to pay attention to Suh, which opened up more lanes for Aaron Donald.

Regardless, we find ourselves here in March of 2019. The Bills are without their talented D Tackle, who retired this past season. We saw what the retirement of Eric Wood and Richie Incognito did to the Bills O-Line and while I don’t think (or should I say hope) the retirement of Williams will be that devastating, signing Suh sure would soften the blow.

Of course, the chances of Suh coming to Buffalo are slim to none. This is a man who just finished as the runner up in the Super Bowl so he’s most likely looking for another contender to join. In this case, the Patriots, Chiefs, Saints or a return to the Rams is likely. Suh’s already seen the money. It’s the ring he wants right now. Though they may be in a position to deliver someday, the Bills just aren’t there right now.

But who knows? Maybe Suh will come here and cause a Bills avalanche.
