The Giants have been in the Mike Remmers talks for a while. Dave Gettleman made the move as he got his projected right tackle to suit up in blue in September. Remmers has had stints with Carolina and Minnesota. Pat Shurmur was the offensive coordinator during one of the years Remmers was in Minnesota. Chad Wheeler got the start last year week 3 in Houston when the Giants coaching staff settled on moving on from Ereck Flowers. Wheeler wasn’t Ereck Flowers so Giants fans were a little more supportive of the tackle during his time in the lineup. But, the truth is Wheeler was one of the worst linemen in the league and he was no better than Flowers. Remmers provides another veteran presence on the line that is somewhat familiar with the system. The Giants biggest weakness that has been magnified and blasted by the media the last few years has become one of their strong suits. Remmers was stuck at the guard position last year and struggled heavily. PFF had Remmers as their 50th best guard in the league. When the Oregon state product was at tackle he was part of a Vikings team that made the NFC championship and a Panther team that played in the super bowl. With the giants solidified at the guard spot with the young stud Will Hernandez and proven new acquisition Kevin Zeitler, Remmers will have no worry about being forced into the guard spot again. His versatility is a good thing for the line as the depth of the Giants line isn’t great. For how bad the Giants line was last year especially being new to the system and injuries nagging the line all year long the run game was better than it has been in years.  Saquon Barkley ran for 1,300 yards last year with that line. The Giants new offensive line will allow Barkley to find more holes early and more often. Expect this Giants offense to be sneaky good in 2019 it should be fun to watch Saquon play with proven guys blocking for him.
